NEWS FROM NEPTUNE ’S November 2008 The south coast of KwaZulu-Natal is green, and the flowering shrubs are displaying a riot of colour. For the most of October we had rain and very high winds, and there were days when the sea actually moved sideways. Holidaymakers to the south coast will be pleased to know that the Marine Drive through Shelly Beach is being resurfaced, and all work is scheduled to be completed by 5 December – just in time for the start of the school holidays. The Izotsa toll plaza at Shelly Beach will have an extra lane to ensure that holiday traffic snarls are kept to a minimum. The floods and subsequent heavy rains have caused damage at Uvongo, to the extent that there is virtually no beach, but all the other well-loved beaches are operational and ready for fun in the sun. Fishing has not been very good since the floods in June, but we expect this to pick up for the season. Good news is that there are a number of charter trips for deep-sea fishing, and this is always a successful day out for fishermen. Neptune’s Corner self-catering cottages are situated on a hillside in Pumula. The complex is well placed with superb sea views - the best view point being the pool area. Most of the cottages also have good views of the sea, and Pumula beach is a 10 minute walk away. South coast accommodation during the week between Christmas and New Year is virtually fully booked, so be prepared to exercise patience on the roads! The south coast is packed with places of interest and things to do. Lots of entertainment - both day and night - is planned for the season. Margate will once again host their very successful holiday program, with most of the other beaches staging corresponding events. It promises to be a good festive season! When are packing for your visit to this lovely corner of paradise, don’t forget to pack your binoculars & cameras, etc. The south coast is a wonderful place to make memories. Most of all, make your drive to the south coast a holiday in itself. The roads are going to be very busy, so take it easy, leave the stress at home, and get here safely! PS: We still have limited December accommodation available, from 5th to 23 December, and then from 5th January onwards. We look forward to welcoming you to Neptune’s Corner.
